Mount Calvary Church is committed as a church body to three things:
1. Packing 150 gift-filled shoe boxes together as a church
2. Packing quality items
3. Paying the entire shipping costs. Shipping cost $9 per box this year.
In order to accomplish this, we need individuals and families to be willing to do the following things:
- Pack a completed shoe box (es) on their own time with their own resources
- Donate gift items towards shoe boxes which will be packed in a shoe box packing party
- Donate money, if you feel led, towards shipping the shoe boxes overseas.
- Donate time by volunteering in a number of ways to ensure the collection and packing go smoothly
***We have collection bins for donated items in the Church Lobby and Church Office. We also have a soccer ball collection bin at Upwards Football games.***
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. It is their mission to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. They ship these gifts outside of the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.
This is not aid, but a gift to children who don’t normally receive it, for the purposes of spreading the gospel message to unreached or under-reached areas of the World.
