Good News. Great Joy.
What Is operation christmas child?
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. It is their mission to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. They ship these gifts outside of the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.
This is not aid, but a gift to children who don’t normally receive it, for the purposes of spreading the gospel message to unreached or under-reached areas of the World.
How Can I Help?
Mount Calvary Church is committed as a church body to packing 500 quality, gift-filled shoe boxes together as a church and school family. There are several ways you can participate!
Pack a Shoebox
Pick up a shoebox, pick a target age and gender, and stuff it to the brim with quality toys, school supplies, hygiene items and at least one item that will make the child go WOW! Make sure to pay the $10 shipping online so you can track where your shoebox ends up!
Need suggestions for what to put into the shoebox?
Here are some ideas to get you started.
Completed shoeboxes can be dropped off at the church office
(45 Veterans Drive) through November 13th or bring them to the Packing Party.
MCCS School Families:
Drop off completed boxes during pick up or drop off.
Packing Party
Donate WOW! Gifts and Small Toys!
This year we will be hosting a WOW! gift and small toy drive all throughout the coming weeks. A collection bin will be located at the front of the Sanctuary near the OCC Shoeboxes.
The last day for donating items is Sunday, November 13th.
Attend the Packing Party!
We will be meeting in the Mount Calvary Church Ministry Center (45 Veterans Drive) on Sunday, November 13th, at 3pm to pack all the donations we’ve received into shoeboxes. It’s always a fun time and we would love to have as many volunteers as possible!

Adopt a shoebox
Don’t have time to fill a box? Consider adopting a box! For a suggested shipping donation of $10, we will fill a shoebox for you at the Packing Party! You can donate one of two ways:
1. In-person: donations can be made in person either to the church office, the offering during church service, or with your child’s teacher. Please mark donations as Adopt-a-Box to make sure funds are allocated appropriately.
2. Donate Online: Click here
The last day for Adopt a Box is Sunday, November 13th.
Volunteer
We need several volunteers to make sure things run smoothly. Whether it is praying over the shoeboxes and ministry, writing letters to the shoebox recipients, filling boxes, moving boxes, or shopping, there is a role for everyone who wants to participate! Click here to volunteer
